- I have been running Dynacomm Asynch for the last several months on WINSOCK.
- Originally a Beta release, but I believe (as per Dynacomm) that
- WINSOCK support (WINSOCK connector) is part of the general release of
- the asynch product.

- Jeez dude, RTFM. FYI, there are two ways:
-
- a) Invoke xterm with -sb flag
- b) Put cursor on xterm and press control key and the middle mouse
- button at the same time. This will cause a pop-up menu to
- appear with VT options, including scroll bar option. control
- followed by the other two mouse buttons makes other pop-ups
- appear for changing fonts etc.. Note an xterm can also act
- as 4014 textronix terminal.
-
- BTW, I also hope you realise this has nothing to do with Xwindemo
- as such.

- Subject: Re: I'm ready to spend money - free and shareware WINSOCK not ok
-
- >Is the Chameleon WinSock any faster? Or is it just a matter of
- stability?
-
- IMHO, Chameleon Winsock is MUCH faster than Trumpet Winsock. Probably by at
- least 1.5 times. Everything is much snappier, and news comes down a lot
- faster (I am using a 14.4KB/s Modem). I go back and forth between Trumpet
- Winsock and Chameleon, and always come back to Chameleon.
-
- Chameleon also comes with the basic Internet tools: Gopher, FTP (client and
- server), Telnet, TN3270, TN5250, a POP mail client (equivalent to Eudora 2.0),
- Finger, Whois, Ping, a newsreader, a scripting language, an snmp client, and
- several other utilities.
-
- With the exception of the newsreader, the rest of the package is fairly clean.
- The newsreader is BUGGY, and seems to have an interface similar to WinVn. I
- am working with Netmanage on this, and trying to help them clean it up.
-
- I didn't spend $400 for the package. I attended the CommNet 94 show in
- Washington D.C., and they were selling the Chameleon 4.0 package for $99. I
- figured I couldn't go wrong for that price.
-
- I purchased a new computer with Windows for Workgroups 3.11, and neither
- Chameleon nor Trumpet Winsock would run reliably. I went back to Windows 3.1
- and things are working ok now. When I get the WFW resource kit I ordered, I
- will try again armed with more info.
-
- Hope this helps.

- Subject: XWin Problem ?
-
- I'm running xwindemo and am connected via ethernet to my university.
- Everything seems to work well, except that after being connected for a
- while, sometimes it won't let me open new windows. I'll try to run a
- program in it's own window and I'll get an error message something
- like "cannot open <my_ip#>:0.0", where the same command might have
- worked just a little while before. All the windows that are already
- open seem uneffected, but the only way to open a new window is to quit
- Xwin and start up again.
-
- Any ideas?

- Chameleon is a commercial tcp/ip package for Windows from
- Netmanage in the USA. Have just bought it at the Windows Show
- at Olympia for the special show price of 99 pounds.
-
- Works well and cello etc run with it.
